Amazing Lash Studio in Dallas? Amen!

Amazing Lash Studio

Amazing Lash Studio, Dallas Texas – Old Town Center at Lover’s and Greenville Avenue

It’s Kat’s Life is proud to say that yet another incredible business has made it’s way into Dallas! I am huge fan of beauty products and of course am always looking for the next best thing for keeping a youthful look, of course. Who doesn’t want that? And a new beauty studio opening just in time to get primped for those holiday parties.

I had the privilege to learn about the Amazing Lash Studio (at Old Town in Dallas, Texas) over a year ago and am so excited to finally see the business concept up and running.

I am the most excited about their quietly mentioned tag line (“Big D style”) for their Grand Opening! Who doesn’t want free beauty services, every attendee receives a certificate for a free set of lashes. I know from personal experience, a set of lashes is not an inexpensive gift – new sets of lashes can run in upwards of $300 and that’s a fairly modest price comparison. I personally vouch for the owner of Amazing Lash Studio, as I have known him since 1998, that seems like yesterday, but it was actually quite some time back.

I love everything about the concept, the business model, the location and the very people who you will all interact with at the company itself.

From Amazing Lash Studio:

Would you like to dramatically enhance the appearance of your eyes without a lot of fuss? Can you imagine starting your day looking incredible without spending a minute in front of the mirror? If you live in the Dallas area and want to enjoy the perks of amazing, custom lash applications, you need to pay a visit to Amazing Lash Studio. At our Dallas location, you can have individual, semi-permanent lash extensions applied quickly and for a very reasonable price. When you step back out the door, your eyes will be utterly transformed! – See more at: http://www.amazinglashstudiodallas.com/#sthash.szxJD8oc.dpuf.

One hour is all it takes to instantly transform not only your face, but delicately exaggerate your eyes with a semi-permanent product.

I don’t know about you ladies, but this picture alone, convinces me. My blonde fine lashes, drastically need some exaggeration.

The Waves of the Sea

It’s Kat’s Life – The Waves of the Sea

Although it seems I completely disappeared from the blogging and social media scene altogether this summer, I hadn’t. I may have seemed checked out, but honestly I have never been more checked in. Checked into the Lord (His word and His will), checked into my marriage, checked into my children, checked into my friends, checked into the amazing world around me and spending lots of precious time by the sea. I will be updating over the next few weeks and sharing what all I’ve learned and experienced over the past few incredibly meaningful months.

Finding Peace and Rest

quote-focus-on-what-truly-matters-1340394727

Over the past 7 weeks or so, there are have been a number of changes in my daily routine. I have spent less and less time on social media, blogging and watching television, I have gotten up super early (even when I don’t “have” to) and have gotten to the gym daily before my hubby goes to work. For anyone that has known me any length of time, you will automatically almost think I may have completely lost my mind. Not only have I spent the past 7 weeks deeply rooted in God’ word, early in the morning before anyone in my house is awake, but I also added getting up even earlier to do both my prayer and quiet time, as well as my workouts. This former night owl, is no longer such, most days I can hardly stay up past about 9:30 or 10pm. 5 am has never been my preferred time, but there is truly something to be said about getting up early, digging into the Bible and crunching out several miles before the day has officially begun. Change is never easy, nor is taking the first step, but keeping at it is so worthwhile. “Life is so much brighter when we focus on what truly matters.”

Day of Rest?

http://b.vimeocdn.com/ts/417/209/41720994_640.jpg

Do you actually make sure that Sunday (the Sabbath) is a day of rest?

What does the Sabbath or Day of Rest mean to you? Do you still toil in your labor? Do you take timeout to worship? Do you still go on living life as you do every other day?

Growing up my father took this Commandment very literally – he never missed a day of mass and did absolutely nothing else. And when I say nothing else, I mean it. He wouldn’t as much as pick up a screwdriver if a bolt had come loose on something important, it always had to wait until Monday.

Why do you think the Day of Rest is so important? Important enough God placed it rather high in the list of the Ten Commandments? Knowing God’s importance on a Day of Rest, how does that change your perspective?

Ozery Bakery Morning Rounds: Delish!

Ozery Bakery’s Cranberry Orange Morning Round Breads

There’s a new favorite food around my house. We are absolutely obsessed with Ozery Bakery’s Morning Rounds. Have you heard of them, better yet, have you eaten one? One bite and you will totally be hooked – we all were in this house. So far we have eaten two out of the three flavors – we ate the Cranberry Orange first and I thought no way could I like the Apple Cinnamon any better, I was wrong. I loved them equally. They have no fake ingredients, are a healthy choice and are so versatile. Here’s a blurb directly from their website with more detail about their amazing little products. We honestly usually heat them in the toaster oven and serve with a little butter and honey or peanut/almond butter. They are pure goodness!

You can even use Ozery Morning Rounds to make French Toast – they didn’t last that long in our house, but next batch, I will certainly make some.

Start your day off right with Morning Rounds, the fruit and grain bun that will make you want to ditch those unhealthy doughnuts, muffins and pastries. We only put in what’s delicious, like pieces of real apples, whole oats and seeds. With Morning Rounds, breakfast and snacks are a no-brainer—the hardest part is choosing one out of our three delicious flavors.

Morning Rounds are crafted with care in small batches, and contain absolutely nothing artificial.

     FREEZE FOR FRESHNESS!
Morning Rounds
contain no artificial preservatives. If you don’t eat them by the “best by” date, FREEZE for freshness. HEAT in the oven at 400° F for ONE MINUTE for fresh-baked flavor, or THAW at room temperature to enjoy later.

Comment below – I’d love to know what you think about them, their sweet little company or if you want to know where you can find them.

TGIF – Funtastic Friday

FuntasticFriday

What’s more fun than wearing paper bunny ears to mommy’s dermatologist appointment? Not a whole lot – everyone loved to see this little dude in rabbit ears awhile ago.

Today, is one day that my littlest (The Dude) doesn’t have school – so what do we usually do – find some kind of “trouble” to get into… And by “trouble” I mean something 4 year old appropriate, that would put a smile on his face. (Wearing bunny ears to the doctor sometimes has to work too.)

Not sure what we plan on doing today – it’s rather muddy and wet so I think the park is off limits today, but I am positive we will find something fun, just the two of us! Have a great Friday – TGIF!

Marriage Advice from 1886

I just had to share this when I came upon it. Funny how we think times have changed, but really nothing changes much at all.

Marriage Advice from 1886

Let your love be stronger than your hate or anger.

Learn the wisdom of compromise, for it is better to bend a little than to break.

Believe the best rather than the worst.

People have a way of living up or down to your opinion of them.

Remember that true friendship is the basis for any lasting relationship. The person you choose to marry is deserving of the courtesies and kindnesses you bestow on your friends.

Please hand this down to your children and children’s children: The more things change the more they are the same.

Note to Penny

A few weeks ago, a fellow blogger, mother and daughter in pain, shared an all too familiar tale about her mothers decision to reject her. I read her words and felt every bit of angst and confusion that I too have felt by the rejection and intentional neglect from my own mother. I felt compelled to respond, to support her and share with her my struggles in the comment posted below. This is a common issue, usually known as maternal narcissism. There are pages and pages of information on it if you take the time to Google it. It is actually quite scary how indiscreet and damaging it’s effects can be.

Here’s Penny’s at Foster to Forever’s original post. http://foster2forever.com/2012/04/rejection-of-my-mother.html A great, authentic tale of the hurt just a few actions or lack of action (in her case) can cause. I hope you can find encouragement and light in these tough to tell tales.

“Penny – I feel your pain. I too have had a multitude of disappointments that stem from my mother’s lack of empathy, love or kindness. There is a term for this kind of parental hurt and destruction. I was made aware of it about a year ago – it rocked my world to say the least. I learned my entire childhood was a joke, I was raised by a woman who never wanted me. I am reading a book now called “Children of the Self Absorbed”by Nina Brown. It has opened my eyes beyond words to the abuse, verbal and emotional that I too experienced. The actual term is parental destructive narcissism. They cannot see it, they will never change it, and nothing can be done about it. Some of the best things to do are sever ties with that person. I am still miles from being “recovered” from the pain I endured, but the craziest part of all of it – no one ever thought this was a possibility. The DNP’s biggest weapon is their mouth and usually in private. I am still working through the details and trying to recognize all the symptoms, but this book is quite encouraging for you, the adult child, who is still reeling from the effects of this parent. Here’s an article with a brief snip it from her book. http://www.wmeades.com/id211.htm”

Update: Challenge for 2013

Well, I thought I should update everyone how my Re-use, Re-purpose, Re-cycle challenge of 2013 is going. The first day, I had an idea of a new item for my closet and I nearly got up and rushed out to buy it. Thankfully, I resisted temptation. Each day has gotten easier and I have found so many wonderful outlets to make my challenge a reality. Since, the new year/new challenge began I have re-purposed frames from the 70’s (my uh um childhood) for a hallway collage, painted a lamp tossed out by my neighbor, found a framed board that at a resale shop that I painted black (it was red), painted the background with chalk paint and mounted it to my fridge as a weekly menu and it makes such a huge difference. I have so many great ideas and so little time or mental organization to do them. I am excited about all the upcoming projects – I am also a little burlap obsessed like most crafty ladies right now, but the best re-purposed burlap old coffee sacks – oh, the things I could do with those. Stay tuned as I finalize plans for the main wall in my living room. I have purchased a cool mirror from resale, painted a cool metal duo-gram one of my BFF’s gave me and found some wall art with meaningful words. More to come on all of that – I will certainly post a before and after pic. Currently, my office appears as though a plane crashed into it or a small bomb went off in it. I am trying to pair down and keep items that we really need. I would love to hear your thoughts on how you are reusing and re-purposing… Please share.
