What Leaving FB Behind Taught Me

So for two months, I left FB behind – I thought “how will I ever survive”, but the good news was, I did. Not only did I survive leaving FB behind – I didn’t miss it too terribly much once it was gone. After the first week or so, I didn’t seem to care anymore. I did care that I was missing some pieces of the people I love. I came up with a new plan of action. I no longer had a deactivated FB account, I completely deleted it! Wahoo! With all the changes with the Timeline, it is no longer feasible to delete a person here or there who pollutes your FB with negativity/rants, treats you poorly or just plain has no good reason to be on your page in the first place, with all that said – “DELETE”. I came up with a new strategy – if it’s not for good, then it must go away! And in one click and 14 days later – my original account with a ridiculous amount of friends was forever scraped from Facebook. Yippie!

There are few things more coveted than freedom.  People die for it.  People pray for it.  People strive for it.  True freedom comes from knowing truth…” quoted from http://spiritual12food.blogspot.com/2013/01/true-freedom-comes-from-knowing-truth.html

20 Days and Counting…

Today has officially been 20 days since I deactivated my personal FB account and honestly I feel more free and more productive than I have been in years. I do feel a little out of touch with what my friends are doing, but there is this amazing thing – a phone –  I text, email or call to see what’s going on with them, I get outside and talk to them – I know fascinating discovery, but yes, it is there. What would you do with a social media hiatus of sorts – know thankfully I still have Twitter and all the other networks I use, but I can say that fleeing FB has been freeing… Anyone care to join me?

For the love of Trooper and all things social media…

My boutique social media, graphic design and web design business is busier than it’s ever been. Additionally,  along with my friend Kim and her love for a rescue dog named Trooper and her ideas, we began a 501(c)3 non-profit organization called Trooper’s Team.  On December 10th, we had our first event, which was a great success and we loved seeing all our friends and supporters show up. 2012 has big plans in store.

Naptime Design, LLC is bursting at the seams and my small one-woman show is about to become something bigger. Hang on to your hats. 🙂 January means writing business plans, social media plans, blog calendars, website creation/re-do’s and graphic design elements. Getting ahead so we can stay on top! Such an exciting time with so many proverbial irons in the fire. The ideas are flowing and I just wish I could ask for more time to make all my ideas come to fruition.

The scripture on my desk at all times is “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3 – I do my best to keep my focus on the prize, Jesus and let Him take the wheel.  Anytime I feel like hanging up my hat for work – He continues to bless me abundantly. Keep those thoughts in mind when you think things are impossible. “With God all things are possible.”
